A Guide to Hosting a Dry New Year's Eve Extravaganza!

Tips to host an epic alcohol free New Year's Eve Party

As we gear up to say adios to the year that was and greet the new one with open arms, there’s no better way to celebrate than by hosting a stellar New Year’s Eve bash. But what if some of your guests opt to skip the booze or are the heroes who offer to be designated drivers? No worries! We’ve got you covered with a guide to hosting a sensational shindig that caters to our buddies who prefer the zero-percent lifestyle.

First things first, let’s talk libations. Stocking up on a diverse range of non-alcoholic drinks is the key to keeping everyone’s glasses filled and spirits high. For a 4-hour soiree with 2 teetotalers, consider having at least 6 bottles of premium non-alcoholic wine and bubbles and around 12 booze-free beers. Double that for 4 guests. If you’re hosting a grand celebration with 10 abstainers, aim for a dozen bottles of bubbles, with 3-4 bottles of reds and whites and around 2 cases of beer to ensure everyone has their preferred drink in hand throughout the evening.

For a 6-hour extravaganza, adjust the quantities accordingly. Double the 4-hour amounts for 2 and 4 guests, and triple for 6. For a gathering of 10 non-drinkers, aim for 18 to 20 bottles to keep the party flowing without a hiccup or headache!

Now, let’s talk party bites. The key is to have an assortment of nibbles that pair perfectly with those delightful zero-percent drinks. Start with some classic finger foods, sausage rolls with bush tomato chutney. These are great for soaking up booze as well. For a 4-hour gathering, plan on having at least 3 different types of snacks, and increase to 5 or 6 for a 6-hour soiree.

For a cozy 2 to 4 person get-together, consider a platter with an assortment of cheese, crackers, and fruit. For a group of 6, add in some mini sausage rolls and prawn cocktails. For the grand 10-person affair, go all out with a grazing table featuring gourmet dips, antipasto, and a selection of cured meats.

When it comes to catering for non-alcoholic guests, mocktails are the star of the show. There is an incredible range of ready to drink alcohol free cocktails available, so you can just fill up a tub with ice and provide a range of alcohol free drinks – like the amazing host you are.

If you are feeling up to it, you can batch some amazing mocktails which will have the drinkers and abstainers refilling their cups over and over again.  Think refreshing classics like virgin mojitos, alcohol-free spritzers, or a zesty summer sangria. Ensure you have the necessary ingredients like fresh fruits, soda water, and herbal infusions to create a variety of tempting concoctions.

For a smaller gathering, a couple of mocktail options should suffice. As the guest list grows, consider expanding your menu to include at least four different zero-percent drinks to cater to diverse tastes.

Remember, the key to a successful New Year’s Eve bash is inclusivity and good vibes. So, stock up on those zero-percent bevvies, whip up some delectable eats, and get ready to ring in the new year with a celebration that everyone can relish. Here’s to a fantastic and alcohol-free New Year’s Eve! Cheers!
